Flotilla Member Training

Training is a very crucial part of our member activities.  In fact, it is hard to think of any Auxiliary activity which does not have training available to define program mission requirements and assure a competent, superior performance in all we do.  We take this responsibility seriously and are always seeking to improve the training resources offered to our membership.

The Flotilla Staff Officer for Member Training (FSO-MT) serves our members by facilitating training activities within the Flotilla.  The FSO-MT can work with the member to develop an individual training plan.  The FSO-MT finds Flotilla-based resources to present these classes in the necessary skills used in the various programs the Flotilla actively pursues.  These programs include the Boat Crew program, the Vessel Examination Program, and the Marine Dealer Visitation Program.  You can click on this link to go to the national training site for more information for each of these courses.  You can also click on this link to go to the online training location.   There is a wealth of interesting information for members at this link.   You will need to open an account but it is real easy.  Also click on this link to obtain access to the Auxiliary's Boat Crew and other useful manuals.

The FSO-MT can also facilitate the Operational Auxiliarist Program (AUXOP).  This program consists of six advanced specialty courses that vastly expands the knowledge used during Boat Crew or Air Crew operations.  The six courses required for the AUXOP certification are listed below.  Just click on the course and you will be taken to the national site for information on the course selected.:

- Auxiliary Communications (AUXCOM)

- Auxiliary Coastal Navigation (AUXACN)

- Auxiliary Search Coordination & Execution (AUXSC&E)

- Auxiliary Weather (AUXWEA)

All of these classes, except the AUXSC&E, can be done either individually or in a classroom setting with a facilitator.  The AUXSC&E is the only course that requires a certified instructor and our Flotilla has just such an instructor.  The class is completed once an end-of-class, proctored exam has been successfully passed.

The National Training Department (via the National website) also provides the platform for distance learning by providing on-line courses and administering the National Testing Center which offers many on-line exams for qualification of required program competencies.
